IECEP-KSA-ERC Hosts Technical Webinar on Honeywell OneWireless Multiprotocol Solutions

April 24, 2026, | IECEP KSA-ERC HQ, Al-Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The IECEP-KSA Eastern Region Chapter successfully conducted a high impact technical webinar on April 24, 2026, titled “OneWireless: Multiprotocol Wireless for Industrial Application.”

Held virtually via Zoom from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the event brought together engineers, practitioners, and technology professionals for an in depth exploration of modern industrial wireless systems.

The session featured Mr. Michael C. Angeles, Engineering Group Leader of Honeywell HPS Saudi Arabia, as the distinguished resource speaker. His presentation provided a comprehensive overview of Honeywell’s OneWireless™ platform, a multiprotocol wireless solution designed to support ISA100 Wireless, WirelessHART, IEEE Backhaul, and Wi Fi technologies. As highlighted in the presentation, the system integrates “ISA100 Wireless, WirelessHART, IEEE Backhaul, IEEE Wi Fi,” underscoring its versatility and interoperability across industrial environments.

The program opened with welcoming remarks by Engr. Jimmel Magtubo, Director of Honors and Awards, and an introduction to the speaker by Engr. Arlie P. Villanueva, Vice Governor for Education of IECEP-KSA-ERC. Participants were reminded of the event’s professional standards by the Host, Engr. Kelvin Cano, VG for Internal, through the Basic House Rules, which emphasized respectful communication, muted microphones, and active engagement during discussions.

Mr. Angeles delivered a detailed technical walkthrough of the OneWireless engineering process, covering RF site surveys, predictive design workflows for CCTV and Wi Fi, mesh connectivity modeling, transmitter simulations, and 3D RF model development.

He also presented real world applications, including wireless pipeline monitoring, wellhead monitoring, and ENRAF radar wireless integration.

A key highlight from the presentation noted that the Wireless Device Manager (WDM) can support “500 devices @ ≥ 4/5 secs, 200 devices @ 1 sec, 100 devices @ 0.5 secs,” demonstrating the system’s high capacity performance and suitability for large scale industrial deployments.

The webinar also introduced the Virtual Wireless Device Manager, which offers scalable deployment, hardware agnostic architecture, and support for up to 100 access points and 3,000 field devices. Mr. Angeles emphasized the platform’s industrial reliability, strong layered security, frequency hopping resilience, and support for closed loop control with latencies as low as 100 milliseconds.

He further highlighted Honeywell’s achievements in Saudi Arabia, including the first OneWireless deployment in 2016, the world’s largest OneWireless infrastructure in 2018 with more than 350 access points, and ongoing RTU and wireless monitoring projects from 2020 to the present.

In addition to the technical discussions, IECEP-KSA-ERC awarded a Certificate of Scholarship Grant to Michael Lloyd T. Lumacad under the ETEEAP Scholarship Fund. The certificate recognized his eligibility and commitment to academic and professional advancement, stating that it was issued “as a testament to the organization’s continued support for members’ educational and professional development.”

The event drew strong participation from attendees, including engineers and electronics practitioners who actively engaged in the discussions and Q&A sessions. The program concluded with an open forum where participants raised questions on RF modeling, deployment challenges, and integration strategies for industrial wireless networks.

Through this successful webinar, IECEP-KSA-ERC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high quality technical education and supporting the continuous professional development of Filipino engineers in Saudi Arabia. The chapter continues to strengthen its role as a leading platform for knowledge sharing and industry collaboration in the field of electronics and industrial automation.
